Another beautiful piece. Whenever I read one of your posts my mind goes to your mom and you have so much of her sweetness, thoughtfulness, kindness, and warmth. She would be so very proud of you. My mom’s recipes with a blotch of ingredients here and there bring such joy to me. How lucky we are to have realized that these precious keepsakes needed saving. They sure do bring comfort along with the memories. Thank you Rachel.
I love this and thanks, too, for the kind words. Reading this, it just touches my heart and makes me even more certain of the need for our workshop — and, just how much meaning it’s going to provide participants.
Our past stories, the things that touch us — as simple as a note or as elegant as a jewel — they impact us. And I don’t believe it’s the “thing” as much as it’s the memory and emotion it evokes. Thank you Rachel for making our past stories come to life… I’m looking forward to working with you — and evolving. 💗
Beautiful post! And I chocked up a bit at that thoughtful note from Pat and her saying, "You were a good daughter." I also have boxes of notes and letters. I'm not really a saver, but I have managed to save those from house to house all the way back to high school. I have not looked at them once in my adult life. I'm not sure what I'm waiting for. Maybe a good project for this summer.
Also those place cards are AMAZING
Love this post. Love those place cards so much.

Love those place cards and letters! Yours Truly, Dr. Gerstenblatt
I am especially touched as the people mentioned are all familiar to me.
Seeing your Dad’s handwriting sent a little tear.
