Fall is in the air. Dare I say it’s time for sweater weather or at least the opportunity for authors (and everyone) to wear long dresses to book events?!
I am excited to tell you about two book events coming up this October. I hope you can attend. Bring a friend. Tell a friend. Wear a sweater, or a long dress, or whatever.
First up on Tuesday October 1st, I will be celebrating the launch of the anthology ON BEING JEWISH NOW in NYC with anthology editor Zibby Owens and 40 other contributors to the book. This event, a petite retreat (love that name) will include morning and afternoon panels and early evening cocktails. I am honored to be one the contributors to the book and one of the panelists at the event.
I know several of the contributors and can definitely say that they are awesome people and super talented writers. I have read all the essays in the book and was blown away by how insightful, thoughtful, meaningful, funny, sad and powerful they are. This promises to be a really wonderful event. You can learn more and sign up to attend right here.

Next up on Sunday October 20th at 2pm, I will be in conversation with New York Times bestselling author plus brilliant and lovely person Julie Satow at the Newtown Bookshop in my town!…..Newtown, PA.
Julie is the author of WHEN WOMEN RAN FIFTH AVENUE. I loved this book and I think you will too. It tells the story of three women who rose to the height of power in the glamorous world of 20th century departments stores. I have not stopped thinking about these women and their stories since I turned the last page, and I can’t wait to talk to Julie about this and much more.
Below is just some of the praise that Julie’s book (an instant NYT bestseller) has received from media outlets since it came out into the world earlier this year.
“The latest example of great shopping writing . . . Satow could have focused on the stores alone, with their array of delightful bygone details. But by following Odlum, Shaver, and Stutz, she posits that women, in shaping retail, invented the American fashion industry. . . the worlds they built were largely forgotten, until Satow revived their legacies.” —The Washington Post
“Ms. Satow’s carefully researched book is compulsively readable: I found myself dashing through it like a novel. She portrays the women with verve; we get a glimpse into their lives, as well as a sense of what it was like at each of these retail meccas.” —The Wall Street Journal
“Julie Satow celebrates the savvy leaders who made Bonwit, Bendel’s and Lord & Taylor into retail meccas of their moment. . . Clever . . . [Odlum, Shaver, and Stutz] are a force” —The New York Times
Sign up for this event right here. Each ticket to the event includes a hardcover copy of Julie’s new book. Also, I am baking a fresh batch of cookies for the event so there’s that.
New Life’s Accessories Podcast Episode
Lee Ann Jones, the designer behind the Lee Jones Collection, joined me on the pod and brought along her fairy dust bracelet, a piece from her very first collection, which symbolizes the women who work tirelessly behind the scenes, orchestrating the magic in their families, workplaces and communities determined to make the world a little better and brighter.
And that is exactly what Lee Ann is doing each and every day. She left her 20 year career as a lawyer after taking a metal smithing class as a hobby. When friends were asking Lee Ann to buy the jewelry off of her neck, she thought she might just have a business. Lee Ann and I talked all things jewelry and styling plus how to inject some of that fairy dust magic into our lives. Listen at link above
